BCBS to Cover Flu Shots by Any Provider

BlueCross BlueShield of Illinois will cover flu shots administered through any provider type. This includes shots received at a drug store, grocery store, public health office, etc.

If you received a shot outside of your clinic, you may file a claim for reimbursement under our BCBSIL PPO plans.


You will need to complete the claim form and attach a receipt containing:

  • Date of service
  • Type of service (flu vaccination)
  • Provider information (i.e. pharmacy name, phone number and tax ID if available)
  • Name of person receiving the shot (patient)
  • Cost of the shot: BlueCross BlueShield will reimburse you up to $25 for the cost of the shot
