Achieve Your Wellness Goals with Blue Points

Feb. 10, 2010

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois (BCBSIL) understands that it can be difficult to change habits and maintain a healthy lifestyle.  That’s why BCBSIL offers Blue Points* to help keep you and your eligible dependents motivated and climbing toward their wellness goals.

By offering you the opportunity to save money through Blue Points, which can be redeemed for popular health and wellness merchandise and services, this could be just the incentive you need to take control of your health.

How Blue Points Works

You and your eligible dependents earn Blue Points every time they engage in healthy activities** such as:

  • Creating fitness, meal or life plans; setting goals and reporting on progress
  • Completing and updating the online Health Risk Assessment
  • Participating in online wellness programs
  • Incorporating fitness center visits as part of a weekly routine through the Fitness Program

Access Blue Points

To access the Blue Points program, go to the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois’ website and log into to your Blue Access account.  If you have not created an account, you must do that before you can enroll in Blue Points.

Kids Can Participate, Too!

Children ages six to 12 have their own program, earning miles as they journey “Around the World.” Accumulated miles allow kids to move from one destination to the next – earning stamps along the way. These stamps are redeemable for kid-friendly reward items at five different levels.

Redeeming Blue Points

You can redeem points at the Blue Points Account and Redemption Center – accessed by visiting Blue Access® for Members at www.bcbsil.com and selecting Personal Health Manager and Blue Points. Redemption levels start at just 2,500 points and go up to 50,000 points.

* Blue Points Program Rules are subject to change without prior notice. See the Program Rules and Frequently Asked Questions for further information. Blue Points are only available to groups with Blue Care Connection® and the Personal Health Manager (PHM).

** Adult and teenage dependents (ages 13-17) can earn points the same as the employee member; however, recommended activities are age appropriate and based on the individual’s fitness level and goals.
